Dear partners in the mission
Recently, the following letter was sent
to me by A.K., who lives in Pointe-Noire (Republic of the
Congo
):
“While listening to your broadcast on the religious radio channel, I
was touched by your message. As a
recent convert to Christianity, I would like to ask you to send me some material
and even, if at all possible, a bible so that I may be edified and strengthened
in order to move away from the devil. I
have come a long way, having experienced all kinds of trials, a number of
failures, many deaths among my dear ones. By
sheer curiosity I attended a seminar during which someone was preaching on the
book of Exodus, the story of the children of
Israel
who were captive and slaves in
Egypt
.
I found myself to be in the same situation and since February this year I
have become a rebel presently going through
the desert after having
diligently served worldly people. I
am now living near the Word of God and would like to remain close to it in order
to definitely break with slavery and to quit everything which is impure and does
not honor God. That is why I need
your assistance because at the moment I am being subjected to many persecutions,
even from the part of my wife. But I
do not lose hope because the testimonies which I find in various prayer groups
bring me comfort. Thank you”.
“I need your assistance”…
Do you remember, dear friends, Paul’s vision of the man of
Macedonia
,
in Acts 16:9-10? “During the
night, Paul had a vision of a man of
Macedonia
standing and begging him ‘Come over to
Macedonia
and help us!’ After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave
for
Macedonia
,
concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.”
My correspondent, as well as many others,
is also asking you to help him by supporting Reformed Faith and Life’s
broadcast and literature ministry: this ministry helps him to foster the only
real hope which can sustain his life amidst many trials.
Recent converts write to us after listening to our broadcasts because if
they are not nurtured in the word of Truth, the seed which has been planted and
received, will soon wither by lack of water.
The ministry of Reformed Faith and Life is one of hope:
the same hope which you and I have received and by which we live, we are
called in turn to spread around us, as far as the Lord calls us.
As for me, I can say of you,
like Paul writing to the Thessalonians: “We always thank God for all of
you, mentioning you in our prayers. We
continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your
labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord
Jesus-Christ.” Please remember
my correspondent and all the listeners of Reformed Faith and Life.
They need our assistance… We
too may conclude that God has called us to preach the Gospel to them…
In
His service
